We were so fortunate to have Dani Soffer as our guide on our recent trip to Israel. He is a true
professional. On our second day of the trip, he joined us after an unfortunate experience we had with a
different guide on the first day. He had to fill in, not knowing us, with only a very limited itinerary
provided by a travel agency that had not followed through on procuring vouchers and reservations. Dani
got to work immediately, consulted us on our preferences, made suggestions and efficiently worked out
the details.
Each day, he started out by providing a detailed background of what we were going to see. His
knowledge base is staggering. He imparts information in an engaging manner, always including
fascinating stories about historical and biblical figures. I joked that I was going to nickname him
"wikipedia" because he was able to answer all questions. He gave us a crash course in the old and new
testaments, as well as daily lessons on the geopolitical situation in the middle East, and never got
impatient when I asked the same questions repeatedly.
He adjusted our itinerary to accommodate our needs, always considering how much walking we wanted
to do, what and when we wanted to eat and picked up on our particular interests.
Aside from Dani's professionalism, he is a pleasure to be with. His warmth and enthusiasm are
infectious. It is so important to enjoy the company of a guide you're spending many hours with over a
period of 12 days. I could not have imagined spending that time with anyone else.
I will recommend Dani to all my family and friends who plan a trip to Israel and if I am fortunate enough
to return, I will call Dani.
