SOUTHERN TANZANIA SAFARI

4 DAYS SAFARI IN RUAHA NATIONAL PARK 

FIRST DAY

Dar es salaam – Iringa

We fly from Dar es Salaam to Iringa around 9:30 am with Air Tanzania, we will arrive at Iringa around 10:30 am.

We then drive from Iringa to Ruaha national park for 3 hours.

Ruaha National Park is Tanzania's largest, a vast wilderness in the south-west of the country visited by only a handful of travelers each year. At the park's heart is the aptly-named Great Ruaha River, a massive watercourse that dwindles to only a few pools in the dry season, but bursts its banks and roars over boulders at the height of the rains.

Converging with the Great Ruaha are hundreds of sand rivers, natural game corridors when dry and sparklingly clear streams when wet. Waterbuck, impala and the world's most southerly Grant's gazelle risk their lives for a sip of water - the shores of the Ruaha are a permanent hunting ground for lion, leopard, cheetah, jackal, hyena and the rare and endangered African wild dog. Ruaha's elephants are recovering strongly from ivory poaching in the 1980s and remain the largest population in East Africa. Ruaha represents a transition zone where eastern and southern species of flora and fauna overlap - lesser and greater kudu co-exist with northern species such as Grant's gazelle.

We will arrive in Ruaha national park at 2:00 pm. This often affords one an opportunity to see the animals at rest, seeking shelter from the unrelenting heat under the branches of a large tree. 

The day concludes with checking into the Camp and back out on safari for a drive of close to 3 hours.

We return to the camp where dinner awaits us at the Cottages between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.

SECOND DAY

Ruaha national park

An early morning departure from the Safari Camp is strongly advised for a better chance at spotting lions. A departure of 6:30 a.m. is recommended. We will take breakfast and Lunchboxes with us and we will have a full day game drive at the park. We will also stop at picnic sites for a break and stretching; As with the first night, we return to the Safari Camp where dinner awaits us between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.

THIRD DAY

Ruaha national park

As the second day, we leave around 6:30 am, We will take a breakfast and Lunchboxes with us and we will have full day game drive at the park. We will also stop at picnic sites for a break and stretching; we then return to the camp where dinner awaits us between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.

FOURTH DAY

Ruaha national park – Iringa – Dar es salaam

Following breakfast, we will drive to Iringa and get a flight to Dar es salaam with Airport to pick upon arrival.
