Retama raetam רותם המדבר Rotem

Described as “broom tree” in the byble, according to 1 Kings 18,19 under this kind of bush sat Elijah and slept.
At The Negev desert, southern to the city of Beersheba, one can encounter Rotem(=broom tree), at winter, even with just little rain the Rotem is fully blooming with white flowers and sweet smell.
The roots are known to keep wormth even hours after burning them, thus they are used to supply a worm mat if covered with few inches of soil. Maby that is how Elijah could have slept under the broom tree at the cold nights of the desert.
