Colombo, Sri Lanka

Travel, Explore, Experience & the ‘Journey’ continues…

By Gihan - TMG (Sri Lanka), independent tour guide in Sri Lanka

18th to 21st June 2005 – 3 nights/ 4 days tour to the Northern Peninsula of Sri Lanka, popularly known as ‘Jaffna’ with my colleagues at World Travel Centre Colombo. A whole new experience, apart from the unexplored beauty of Jaffna, for me as a guide (in fact it was a training for me) to accompany a group of tourists and should be ever grateful to the wonderful support of Liyanage (who traveled with me), Sudharma, Asoka & Kishan (with a lot of help from our office in Colombo) and to the experienced guide in-charge Priyantha (Bala). How can we forget Nilantha for his exceptional driving skills, ably assisted by Roshan during that memorable tour, all together that looked as it was the best crew I would have on my very first field experience.

Joined the ‘travel trade’ as a ‘Junior Travel Executive’ at Connaissance De Ceylan in the year 2001 and gained invaluable experience on the job after qualifying as a ‘National Tourist Guide Lecturer’ with the competence license from Sri Lanka Tourism. With previous assignments in banking, advertising, sales & marketing after leaving school, I never believed on a job that would become a part of me and that would continue to ‘travel’ with me on the ‘journey of life’… its simply beautiful.

Diverse opportunities for the explorer never end on this land and I would look forward to share the best of my experiences wi
