Had a fantastic time on this day tour of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Well organised and very informative. Anyone looking to experience the two places in 1 day and cover a lot of information...this is the tour for you.
From start to finish our guide Lorne was enthusiastic and so knowledgable. No question phased him, and made you feel that no question was a silly one. Excellent organisational skills and kept everyone in check, just what you need in a group.
Very happy and just the experience I needed for my first visit to Israel.

City of David and Underground Jerusalem Tour
Lorne was a very knowledgeable tour guide. He kept the tour interesting and fun. We went underground in the City of David and saw some of the excavations. Then we went to the Old City, Western Wall, and the 4 Sephardi Synagogues. Lorne explained all the history of Jerusalem.

Day Tour of Jerusalem and Dead Sea From Tel Aviv
First time to Israel so seeing Jerusalem and the Dead Sea were a must. I booked the trip through Viator and Bein Harim was the company who provided the service. Lorne was my tour guide! He was filled with awesome knowledge, both theologically and scientifically, he gives guest the opportunity for private time, but also keeps the tour fun with his New York style sarcasm! He is fair to the group and makes the most of the time that we are given. I highly recommend this company, if you end up on a tour with Lorne, its just an added bonus!

fantastic tour through Jerusalem
We were guided through the Jerusalem Old City by Lorne and we had a wonderful time. Having a guide who appreciates architecture and who was easy to listen to because of his sense of humour, made our trip very enjoyable. The hours that we spent there went so fast! Cannot wait to get back and explore some more!

Wonderful Guide
Thanks to all at Ben Harim, excellent service all round. One guide stands out as the most informative, most engaging and most considerate - Lorne. We had two trips with Lorne - one to Galilee, the other to Masada. His knowledge of history and archaeology is impressive, as are his great communication skills. He combines deep knowledge of biblical texts with expertise in history and archaeology and he explains everything with clarity. Highly entertaining - a fabulous guide.

ntastic Jerusalem & Bethlehem day trip
Day started with prompt & efficient pick up and transfer to main coach where we were greeted by guide Lorne & driver Avi. Short delay waiting for 2 late arrivals which gave Lorne time to introduce himself & his wicked humour!
During journey to Jerusalem we had a stop at ‘Elvis’ restaurant in mountains and Lorne shared his vast historical, geological & theological knowledge; keeping us all informed and entertained. He ran a tight ship and didn’t stand for rude behaviour - well done!
Quick paced tour (there is a lot to fit in on this 2 location itinerary) of the most important sites in Jerusalem with fantastic, informative commentary which was further enhanced by Lorne’s vast knowledge. A little private time at the Western Wall was welcomed.
On to Bethlehem with good history lesson en route about Israeli / Palestinian land controls in preparation for crossing check point through ‘the wall’. Picked up Bethlehem guide Kamil and on to lunch in Christmas Bells restaurant which was good value, fresh & tasty and gave an opportunity to chat with other travellers on the tour. Kamil gave a great tour of Church of the Nativity and used his local knowledge to get our group into one half of the cave/stable of Jesus’s birth. Why only on half? You’ll have to do the tour to find out!!
Quick walk through Nativity Square back to bus & souvenir shopping stop before saying goodbye to Kamil & heading back to Tel Aviv with most of us having a sleep on the way!
The whole day was amazing, informative, well planned, inspiring and overwhelming to realise we had visited so many unbelievable iconic places in one day! Avi is a brilliant driver who kept us all safe and on time - I suspect he used his local knowledge to avoid traffic jams!
Lorne is an amazing guide - hugely knowledgable, respectful of everyone, very funny, a good time keeper & it was a pleasure to spend the day with him and learn so much from him.
Thank you all for an unforgettable day out!

I am a first time visitor to Israel but have done other tours around the world. I found Lorne’s knowledge as we went around Caesaria, Haifa, Accra and the caves at th Lebanese border to be outstanding. His delivery, humour and interaction with our group was terrific.

Lorne Newman provide an outstanding background and perspectives to our tour. He also added some fun jokes to keep some humor going all day long. These tours requires the tour master to keep track of people in crowded spaces with many people as well as in and out of the bus as we toured the multiple areas. If you are thinking about going, do it soon, more tourists are coming than ever. Even in February many people are at the peak locations. Fabulous Tour, Fabulous Tour Guide
Went on the tour to Caesarea, the Hanging Gardens, Acre, and Rosh Hanikra with Lorne? It was a great day! He interspersed history with humor and kept us all interested. He gave us time to explore on our own, as well as guide us through the historical sites. He definitely knows his stuff! We were very lucky to have had him as a tour guide!

This is a great tour. Our tour guide Lorne made the trip even more enjoyable by explaining what can be proved and what is still speculation. Lorne's background in Archaeology really was an asset. Lorne was able to explain the Holy wars that took place on the lands and the politics amongst the different religions.

A word of caution to people who have heart conditions and disabilities.. this trip is not for you. You are walking on cobblestone roads, going up stairs, and need to keep up with a group.

I would recommend this tour to anyone. Can't wait to see what they uncover at the jail.

I had a fantastic day with Lorne Newman seeing all the important sites in Jerusalem and swimming in the Dead Sea. Let's get the basics out of the way: the pickup and dropoff to the hotel was timely and the bus was comfortable. Jerusalem is amazing and worth exploring, in many ways. Minor nit: there was no email the day before confirming the trip; I had to call the tour operator to confirm the tour and meeting time and place. This is unusual given my experience with other tour operators.

Now, the most important part: Lorne is an incredible guide and absolutely made our day. First and foremost, he takes his craft very seriously and has read a lot and knows a lot about Jerusalem (and seemingly other parts of the country). Combine his excellent and deep level of knowledge with his dry, witty humor and ability to keep a large group in line, and you get a great guide who runs a knowledgeable and efficient tour. We will be back with Bein Harim (likely for Masada and Dead Sea tour) and specifically look for a day when Lorne is guiding.

He provided biblical, scientific and archeological aspects during the tour and tirelessly provided the best tour guide experience that I have experienced. I have been on numerous European tours that that could not come near to the quality of this tour. We visited the key sights in both cities. Lorne brought us to a great lunch in Bethlehem and only recommended shopping sights that were recommended by the Tourist Bureau. Bein Harim tours and Lorne Neuman should be commended for their excellent tours. Lorne Neuman is the most experienced guides I have come across.

Masada / Dead Sea tour
Both Masada and the Dead Sea are must see. Lorne, our tour guide, really brought Masada to life. He’s such a good storyteller.

I have found that the tour guide can make or break a visit to a historical site. Lorne definitely made this magnificient setting even more memorable.

Excellent insight to the history around Masada

Our tour guide (Lorne Newman) was a mine of information about historical events at Masada (and beyond), clearly having a very in depth knowledge and passion for sharing and making the day enjoyable for all. He navigated well around a challenge of 90 min queues for the cable car, readjusting the itinery well so that we did not get stuck queueing.
Overall am excellent day out (and that comes from someone who prefers to travel independently and not use tour companies)

The tour to Masada and Dead Sea was outstanding. Not only was it amazing visiting and seeing these places, but our tour guide Lorne took the tour to the next level. With his vast knowledge and enthusiasm, he brought the places to life. Throughout the ride to our destinations and after we arrived, he taught us all about what we were seeing and the stories behind it all and even more than the tour was about. You can tell he is truely passionate about the history, and it really shows. And he is a pretty hilarious New Yorker.

Israel Adventure

I booked 4 day tours with Bein Harim and all were with different guides. I found Lorne Newman to be the most engaging and informative guide. On the way to the sites, he showed us some pictures to help explain what we were going to be seeing. He also had a steady flow of tidbits coupled with jokes which were thankfully quite funny. At the onset he may seem quite intimidating as he was upfront with the rules for the tour and what to expect from him but it did help to manage the group.

A fantastic immersion into a unique part of the world - and history
Lorne is one of the best tour guides I have ever met. He is like a walking Jewish/biblical history podcast you feel lucky to have found. He was completely natural, humourous and deep into his subject. I'm not even a history buff but I will remember details such as why King Herod kept doves and how he had enough water in his fortress for a swimming pool for a long time as Lorne brought it all alive so well. He even found the time to present the complexities of how Masada is viewed in ever changing historical contexts. He managed to divide the day's activities perfectly. Lorne also made us feel totally taken care of. Ask for him!

Lovely trip with Lorne Newman
We went to Haifa, Caeseria, Rosh Hanikara, Ako with ben haleim tours and our guide was Lorne Newman. It was an absolute delight to have Lorne as a guide. He was knowledgeable and helpful. He was also extremely detail oriented and shared a lot of details about the places we were visiting. He was extremely well prepared. He explained with a lot of care. He was respectful of all the guests and also the driver David who was good as well. Lorne was also careful to maintain time boundaries. Lorne took special effort to take us to the aqueduct just before sunset that too on the day of Equinox. It was a beautiful play of nature and history. Thank you Lorne. If we do another trip in Israel we would want you as a guide.

Great tour!

I rarely do reviews, but I had to do this one. We did Nazareth and Galilee tour from Tel Aviv yesterday with Lorne and it was simply great (in spite of the rains)! The tour was very informational and our tour guide's background in archeology and history really helped. He told everything from science perspective (phew!) which was a plus point for me. To top it all, he has got a very sarcastic sense of humour and the entire tour was very fun. It was one of the best tours I've ever had.
If you're in Tel-Aviv, taking tour with Bein Harim and your guide is Lorne, then you are in for a great tour.

Christian tour of Nazareth

The indept explanations of the Christian sites from the valley of Jezreel to Nazareth, River Jordan...with clear distinction between traditional and areas considered actual sites was an enriching experience. As a geologist I was thrilled to see the first century building in Capernaum built with volcanic/basaltic rocks extruded from the rift system that runs through the Nile valley to East Africa.

Our guide, Mr Lorne Newman, made things easier with his eloquence, sense of humour and effective team organisation.

Awesom tour with a little bit of everything

This tour was amazing in the fact that we got to see a little bit of everything in Jerusalem and Bethlehem in less than a day. As our guide, Lorne, put it, this was the book ends tour that showed us the beginning and end of the story of Jesus.

Lorne was amazing, he kept the tour moving and got us into all of the sites despite the crowds. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining making sure we had all our questions answered and made sure we had the inside scoop from someone that has been in the area for quite some time.

Fascinating place and knowledgeable guide

These are two popular destinations for visitors to Israel and they did not disappoint. With the help of our funny and honest guide Lorne, both spots came alive for us. It was a pleasure and we learned a great deal in our time. I must say that I found the pickup process a bit confusing and the driver was more than 30 minutes late, and the bus was crowded but not that different than most other tours I've been on in recent years. We saw what was promised and were guided with skill and humor, which made up for all the rest.

Israel with friends
Hired this company to see Masada and the Dead Sea before starting our guided tour in a few days. Very good company. Picked us up at our hotel at designated meeting time. Our tour guide Lorne was very knowledgeable and friendly. Spoke loud and clear and kept a good eye on us. A very enjoyable day all around.

Very informative guide; Amazing History

We took 12 hour tours three days in a row. We were exhausted and not sure we wanted to do this one. Our guide, Lorne Newman quickly changed our minds. He was incredibly efficient and very informative. We enjoyed the historical sites, but just as interesting was what we learned. I highly recommend him and the tour.

Incredible tour!
We had such a fabulous tour with Lorne. We visited Masada and the Dead Sea. It was worth every penny. We learned so many historical facts, had incredible views, visited parts of Israel we would not normally have seen and topped it off with an adventure swimming in the Dead Sea. Lorne was so knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He kept all of us entertained including our 11 year old and 16 year old. We would definitely recommend this tour. We considered driving ourselves and going on our own as we aren’t usually tour group people but we are so glad we did the tour instead. It was a highlight of our trip so far. Thanks Lorne!

This is a great tour. We booked it last minute and really didn't know what to expect. The pickup from our hotel went smoothly and the bus ride from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is very comfortable without the bus being completely packed.

Our tour guide Lorne was excellent! He has a great sense of humor and keeps things fairly light while also having an amazing background in archeology. He tries to avoid the theological part where he can but dives into it a bit when he needs to. Honestly his explanations and historical context were one of the highlights of the tour.

The Dead Sea is great. Its a little touristy but thats fine, go swimming, buy some beauty products and say you did it. All in all its a fun day.

This tour was definitely the highlight of our entire week. Our guide Lorne was so very informative and knew the history extremely well. This tour was much more than othersI have experienced with other companies. Lorne presented so much information, it made me want to get out the books, the bible, and learn more about all the historical sites and culture in Jerusalem, I cannot wait to return to Israel, to see and learn more.
The Dead Sea was an incredible sensation, I only was participating in this activity because of the family vote, but so glad I did!! It was amazing.
I definitely will call this company first, and hope Lorne is available as our guide next time.

Thanks Bein Harim for arranging daily trips. they were very professional in conducting trips around Israel. This was my second daily trip with Bein Harim and we visited Jerusalem. I was travelling with my family and we had a 2.5 year Old Kid and I must tell he was difficult to manage. Our Guide for this day was Loren Newman from NY. He was funny, sarcastic but very knowledgeable guy. he had a lot of patience with the group took time to explain every detail of the places we visited. he was very strict with the timelines for the group which actually helped everyone to complete the tour on time. he gave us enough time to explore places. a big Thumbs up to Loren and BH. Being in Tel Aviv for the second time and already having visited Jerusalem/Bethlehem before, I was a little reluctant if this tour would be very interesting.
However it turned out to be a very pleasant day with interesting sights and a great guide. Thanks Lorne for all the funny stories and your American humour.
I only wish there would have been more time in Acre(Akko) and for a short walk through the German colony in Haifa which we only drove by.

I can’t heap enough praise on these two gents! It was a long day for all but they handled it so well. The information archeologically and historically from Lorne was first class in Jerusalem. Unfortunately despite telling everyone on the tour to shout out if they needed something whilst on tour, a couple of moaners made his life difficult and carried this on for the rest of the day......all over a couple of postcards as well, it’s 2018 people no one sends them anyway!!

In Bethlehem Martin the local Palestinian guide was also good. A long wait to see the birth place of the baby Jesus but well worth it.

Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Lorne if you were touring.

Me, my husband and our 5 year-old son took a day trip to Jerusalem and Dead sea on Sunday (28th October 2018) with the guide - Loren. He was just perfect, with a good sense of humour, the guy on the right place, plus he has lived in Israel for about 6 years, so he knew so much about those places, about the history of the country etc. plus we really understood him well, as my husband has sometimes difficulties with understanding natives. Even our son who patiently waited for the Dead sea enjoyed it. Loren is a perfect guide.

Not only Lorne extremely knowledgeable but has a nice personality and a great sense of humour. We were a group of 6 friends from Toronto and we could not ask for a better tour guide than Lorne. We learned so much about these beautiful and historic city thanks to our excellent guide, who perfectly explained the history of every place we visited. No meter what questions we asked from him, he always explained the answer with lots of patient and to our sutisfaction.
Pick up went smoothly and most of the planned events were really enjoyable.
The only dissapointing thing was that we weren't able to see Jesus's birth place. Which should be the highlight of the tour. They would not let us in despite multiply attempts.
We definitely would recomen Lorne because he made up with his personality for the dissapointment. Definitely need comfortable shoes to take with you.

My wife and I really enjoyed this day trip to the Dead Sea and Masada. Our guide, Lorne, was knowledgeable, fun and swift. He explained everything well and added a fun spin to the experience. He kept everyone and everything on time.

Due to a flash flood, the tour had to be delayed by one day. The organizers handled everything very well.

We had an excellent bus driver too.

The sites are fabulous. These are must-sees.

We really enjoyed the detailed information that our guide, Lorne , gave us on our way to the first stop which was the Dead Sea. He was knowledgable about its formation and the current situation regarding the sink holes. He was a really wonderful guide once we got to Masada and explained in easy bite size installments Herods Palace, the Roman siege and the suicide pack of the Jewish resistance fighters. An excellent and enjoyable tour.

A tour of Jerusalem with New York attitude and deep archeological background? Sign me up!

Lorne was great, although many of his jokes and sarcasm went over the heads of the English-as-a-2nd-language members of the group, the native English speakers had good chuckles throughout the day. He was careful to talk theology as little as possible (hard thing when touring religious sites) and focus on archeological information (his background) where he could. I felt he walked that line pretty well. I really appreciated the in depth explanations.

Old Jerusalem as a city was pretty cool. I really liked the many small alleyways filled with shops. Pretty quickly it becomes obvious that there are only about 5 different types of shops repeated over and over but the "middle-eastern Bazaar" feel is kind of neat. It has been called "The worlds largest souvenir shop sprinkled with religious sites" and that is pretty accurate. The various hawkers in the shops are aggressive but not uncomfortably so.

For lunch we went to a restaurant that Lorne had looked at the kitchen of beforehand and felt confident in its cleanliness. You could order the buffet or Falafel (fried Hummus balls I think) or Shwarma (rotisserie chicken?) in a pita. It tasted fine and caused no issues.

As you can imagine the Holocaust Museum was sobering and sad. We had 1:45 to spend there which wasn't enough time for me, I could have used 3 hours probably... I am a read-every-plaque kind of museum patron so that is probably why,

All in all it was a fascinating and enjoyable day. The tour company had us change buses to taxis (all pre-paid) to get home which was kind of a hassle but not enough to lower the rating.

We were fortunate to have Lorne Newman guide both tours we took w/Bein Harim. He is an excellent guide: personable & courteous, an efficient manager of the group and activities so that we kept to the schedule and stayed ahead of the crowds., Most importantly he is very knowledgeable- a trained archeologist no less- about Israeli history, who engaged with group members to make the sites come alive for us. Today we visited several sites in Northern Israel. What a wonderful tour. Our guide was Lorne Newman. He made a great tour explaining many things I didn’t know before and was very funny too which kept our attention.

The trip was very well organized and they looked after all our needs with plenty of stops and breaks along the way. Lorne took us to a great Middle Eastern restaurant for a wonderful lunch.

Bethlehem Tour
I literally had one day to explore Isreal and had landed on the day of the sabbath. Which means nothing is open, but because of this our hotel offered a tour to Bethlehem. The bus arrived promptly the next morning and we drove through Tel Aviv picking up other passengers. It was a lovely morning and everyone was still in their morning space. Then we soon arrived at the bus depot were some passengers got off to join other tours. Myself and a few others remained on board for the rest of the day with our hilarious tour guide Lorne Newman. He was both informative and knowledgeable about the areas we visited and also coloured the commentary with humor and tact. It made the tour so much more memorable and enjoyable. This was be far one of my favorite tours and would do it all over again.

This tour exceeded our expectations, mainly due to our guide Lorne, who offered lots of explanations both on sites and on the bus. I highly recommend the tour and the guide Lorne Newman for those who want to visit these biblical and historic locations and also want to expand their knowledge. It's like walking through a history documentary.

This was a fantastic tour; well organized and structured. Moving at a good pace while being in a group and getting a few periods of time on our own. Lorn, our guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable at the architecture and the history of the area. He was passionate about helping us understand all the richness and complexity of the region. This tour is the perfect balance between learning and visiting about an amazing city and playing/floating in the Dead Sea.

Masada and Dead Sea tour
This tour was great. It was easy to book and well organized. Our tour guide was Lorne and he was excellent! He really knows his stuff. I learned a lot more than I expected about the history of the site and the surrounding regions. This was also because Lorne made it interesting and presented the info in a fun, easy to follow manner. He also had some good advice that if you are lucky enough to get him as your guide you should heed (e.g. wear a hat)! Shout out to the driver Izzy too, he was also lovely.

My visit to Israel has been an Excelent experience.
I was a little bit afraid to be alone doing all the touring by myself..... But the tour company and their tour guide and drivers were very professionals and friendly and very knowledgeable in history.
I was very impressed. Even though I have taken history classes n the past ..., mr. Lorne Newman , gave us a very detailed history class about Masada and the Dead Sea. Very impressed.
He is from New York ... So expect somebody very intensive but unique and a great tour guide.
I will definitively comeback next year with my family and hire the same tour company. ( Bain Harim tours)! Very professionals and friendly people.

Nazareth, Capernaum, Sea of Galilee
As I had done a like-trip less than a year ago I was less than excited( but the expertise of Warren in architecture, archaeology, history erased any dread that I may have harbored.
As a guide, teacher, shepherd and comedian with his nyc sense of humor there was not a hint of boredom.
You have an exceptionally guy there, compensate him well!
... and, thank you for the group picture. It was amazing that you knew each of us by our first names....

Galilee tour
I went with friends on a tour from Tel Aviv to the Galilee offered by BenHarim Tourism Services. The tour included Nazareth, Tiberius, Capernaum, the Sea of Galilee and Yardenit. It was fantastic and made all the more so by our guide, Lorne Newman. His background in and love of biblical archeology was evident and brought to life the history we were so fortunate to experience. I highly recommend both the tour company and our excellent guide.

Great tour!
Our guide Lorne Newman was amazing. He was very considerate towards the group, knowledgeable and presented the facts scientifically and religiously which made our tour very enjoyable. The tour starts early in the morning and depending on the trafic will finish around 18:30.
Lorne's timing for breaks were perfect and he gave us extra time when needed.
We highly recommend it!

A great day trip led by our wonderful guide Lorne, who was insightful, informative and humorous often all at the same time!

This was our first group tour in Israel and we thought it may be rushed, but Lorne managed it well giving us enough time to take in and appreciate the sights.

The highlight for us was the Yardenit Baptismal site on the Jordan River, a beautiful place and my wife enjoyed dipping her feet among the fish in the Jordan!

The landscape of Galilee is breathtaking and we thoroughly recommend this tour

Great tour! I liked that our guide Lorne Newman spoke great English being from America & loved his sarcasm, sense of humor, & visual aids! Did feel a little pressured for time at the Sea of Galilee but I completely understand the reasoning behind in order to get the whole group home at a decent time & trying to beat the holiday traffic. My favorite part was the Yardenit baptism site, was refreshing to get in the Jordan River after a hot day & loved the fish in the Jordan because they nibbled on your feet, felt ticklish. Made me smile!

Tel Aviv to Nazareth
What made an excellent experience on a tour is to have an excellent tour guide. We enjoyed our Jerusalem and Nazareth tours with our tour guide, Lorne Newman. He has a wide knowledge in Archeology and in Christianity, which makes the tour very informative and educational. At the tour, Lorne covered all themop place to see our what was expected. The trip from Tel Aviv was little long, but we never felt bored because Lorne has also have a very good sense of humor and he never stop talking to us all the way on our trips -back and fort. Insightful and entertaining

This was our last tour of Israel before we went home. We found Lorne our guide to be incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, delivering the information in an authentic and often entertaining way. Our group was about 16 people so it made moving through each of the sites much easier than some of the other tours we went on. Our driver was also lovely, navigating the busy streets with ease and efficiency. I would highly recommend the tour.

He truly cares about the experience of each member of his group and made the trip to Bethlehem and Jericho, which is in Palestine a memorable experience. He took time to get to know each member and connect with everyone on a personal level, answer all of our questions, and keep us safe! Another note about the company is that they are flexible. I was with a group of four, including my father, and he was not able to come for this particular tour.The company gave a partial refund for the last minute cancellation with zero hassle. I recommend this company!

Fusion of facts and faith
Lorne was a great tour guide with a fusion of archaeological and religious knowledge that gave our experience a deeper understand of some facts as well as faith.
Timing was punctual and meal was nice.

My day trip to Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee with Lorne Newman of Bein Harim Tours was excellent. Lorne has a background in archeology and the wealth of information he provided about the sites we visited and about Israel in general was remarkable. My tour with Lorne was the 5th day tour I took with Bein Harim Tours and Lorne was by far the most knowledgeable and entertaining guide I had. I wish I had the pleasure of having him as a guide for all of my tours.

What an amazing experience with Ben Harim tours. This was my 1rst tour out of 5 in Israel. Booked prior on-line. Didn't use trip advisory for reference but will in the future. I heard others read reviews on guides , was fortunate and satisfied with ALL my tour guides. Would recommend LOTS of water, comfortable shoes (most of the land is on rock/stone) hats,snacks, shekles for tipping! Air conditioned bus with usb plugs.This group was about 35 people and that was a good size. Pending on your preference. Did a private tour as well later on and loved that too! Felt safe at all times. The tour was long (and hot!) but fantastic! Hotel pick up was extremely well organized and the bus was comfortable, air conditioned, and had USB ports to charge your devices!! Lorne was the guide for my tour. He was very knowledgeable, and more importantly, very enthusiastic about this historical aspects of Masada, the Dead Sea, and the general region. I learned quite a bit! The tour itself was well organized and Lorne ran a tight ship, ensuring that we had plenty of time to see the sites, to shop, and to refuel while staying on schedule. A great experience with a fabulous guide - I'd highly recommend this excursion to anyone traveling in Israel!

Tour of Galilee
A friend and I visited Israel for the first time and wanted to see as many sites as possible. We signed up for four tours with Bein Harim. We were incredibly impressed with all of them! Lorne Newman was the absolute best of all of our guides, however. His knowledge of the Galilee area, history, and archeology was incredible. He was able to answer every question and was funny as well! We highly recommend to take a tour with him if possible!

We were with Lorne Newman on a very informative and top organized tour in Jerusalem. Can only recommend this.

Our DayTrip along the mediterranean coast of Israel to Lebanon border was really great experience. We saw Caesarea, Haifa, Akko and Rosh haNikra. Spectacular aqueducts, grottos , stunning castle of the templars. We and other Guyz :- were absolutely impressed, how great and how professional was our trip guided. Lorne was an excellent Guide, he showed us all these sites using really big dose of humor mixed with hundreds of interesting historical and political facts -Lorne has unbelievable historical knowledge. Great Job Lorne, many thanks!!!

Outstanding day tour consisting of visiting iconic sights such as Caesarea, Haifa Behai gardens, magnificent grottos at Rosh Hanikra and ruins of Acre. Our guide Lorne Newman had a background in Archaeology which he used to make the tour more interesting and even produced pictures of different European countries to show similarities in ancient sites. Great day at Masada and Dead Sea! A big thank you to our Lorne guide who was perfect: very good knowledge of history, humor, and very considerate. The smooth running of the day is totally linked to him: Bravo Lorne! Of course we go through some stops "shops" but this is the rule of the game, and we must get water and eat 🙂 I strongly recommend the hat (Masada / little shade during the visit) and the flip-flops in the bag (Dead Sea / Burning Floor). A must do tour

This was by far one of the best tours I have ever taken. It’s even better if you get Mr. Lorne Newman as a tour guide (and his driver). He is very knowledgeable about the Masada site, providing excellent detail during the walking tour.

Doing two sites makes for a long day but it’s worth every dollar. Bring good walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable clothes, plenty of water and a change of clothes for after the Dead Sea.

I don’t recommend using the lockers at the Dead Sea unless you have a lot of stuff you don’t want to carry around. You can shower and change at the beach.

You won’t regret taking this BH tour.

Excellent back to back One day tours with Bein Harim Tourism services. Day one was full day of Jerusalem tour and it was so great I decided to use them again for the Dead Sea and Masada tour. The guides are some of best that I've experienced. Although you can't choose your guides ahead of time, if you end up with a Lorne Newman, you will be in very good hands. He actually studied archaeology and is a real history buff, and not just learning information for the sake of the job. I believe he really loves giving tours and it shows in the amount of time spent on answering questions from the customers. Unfortunately at the end of our tour, an unruly customer (who wasn't a part of our group but was catching a ride back home) lashed out at the guide due to some misunderstanding about hotels. Even after the customer using profanity, our guide maintained his professionalism and resolved the issue moments later. The guides, along with the good transportation and exceptional destinations make these 2 of the best day tours I've been on.

Had an excellent day trip today to Bethlehem and Jerusalem. Tour covered a lot of ground in one day. Our tour guide, Lorne, was knowledgeable and very funny! We prepaid for the lunch buffet and were glad we did - the food was great! Other people complained about the store they bring you to - I thought it was reasonable and had some fun gifts. There just wouldn't have time to shop around on our own so I thought it was a good compromise.

Tourist Israel for bookings and great service
We booked two tours with Tourist Israel recently - one was a day trip to Akka, Caesarea, Haifa and Rosh Hanikra, the other was the 3 day tour highlights of Jordan and Petra. Both tours were professionally handled and pick ups were on time, more or less, and tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and helpful at all times. Our guide for the day trip, Lorne, was very knowledgeable of the areas we visited and we really appreciated his local, historical and archaelogical information which he passsed on to us. We had originally planned on taking the 2 day tour of Jordan but as this was not available changed our itinerary to fit in the 3 day one. So glad we did. We enjoyed the overnight and jeep tour at Wadi Rum immensely. Our guide Abdul showed us all sorts of interesting places we hadn't expected to see, including some ancient rock drawings at Wadi Rum. Thanks Tourist Israel, We would certainly book with you again.

thank you for this trip. ahmeds driving was perfect and lorne was a fantastic guide. his way of speaking. his jokes and quotes have been funny and entertaining. he has been the perfect guide through jerusalem and part of israel with interesting facts and anecdotes. he has been hard and strict on the timings and it worked since we did not lose any time. his archeologic view and commentaries gave us a very good overview of what is all going on in this crazy city! we can't imagine a better way to discover this city and would rebook lorne for our next trip.

It was a meaningful tour for us. Walking under the sun was a bit hard but expected so it was acceptable for us, not for some. If one visits Jerusalem one has to walk, this is unavoidable.

The guide, Lorens was knowledgable and very clear in his explanation.

We booked a day tour to the old city of Jerusalem for our last day in town, which was complicated since most of the logistics involve them picking you up and dropping you back at your hotel -- but we were driving into Jerusalem with plans to head to the airport later that night.

They gave us an address to meet at next to a local coffee shop, and it took us a long time to figure out how to pay to park. All the street and lot parking requires using a phone app that 1) has poor English support, 2) requires a local Israel phone number, 3) does not let you choose Israeli lots if you're using a US phone number. We finally asked some local university students for help, and after 5 minutes they were able to figure out how to pay for us on their account (not even on our account). So, start of the day minus dealing with 3 phone apps trying to pay for parking, but a big plus that the locals were super nice and helped us out.

We finally got started on our tour and had a great day visiting the sites throughout the old city. Lorne was an amazing tour guide who integrated a plethora of interesting historical facts into each location we visited, and he did an exceptional job at not losing anyone in our tour group (despite many attempts by folks to linger behind and get momentarily lost).

I highly recommend this tour, especially Lorne as a guide, for folks who are interested in the history of the region but not overly religious. I enjoyed this tour significantly more than the religious tour I took a few years ago.

Great Jerusalem Day tour
Took the one day Jerusalem tour out of Tel Aviv. Fantastic journey through history. Tour guide Lorne was an architect graduate and talked a lot about the various styles and the associated history. Large group and he did well “herding his disciples “ through the city and the markets. Lunch was a bit crowded with several tours at the same time but was reasonable and very tasty. If you want a smaller group, would recommend the Business option for a little more money. Other than that, great experience.

Caesarea-Haifa—Acre-Rosh Hanikra
This was the greatest tour I experienced with Bein-Harim, due to the beautiful scenic and archeological attractions but also because of the marvelous historical and anecdotal insights presented by Lorne Newman. This man is a highly gifted tour guide, beyond comparison with other tour guides who had brought me to a point of frustration that I was ready to try venturing out on my own. I am a speaker of English as a foreign language, and I found that Lorne was perfectly easy for me to understand. I would say that his English conversational skills were superb, and the topics he covered met the highest level of my own personal interests. I wish I could have had him as a tour guide for the other tours I had participated in as well.

Wanted to put in a good word for the tour and the guide, Lorne. The itinerary was packed, but that was to be expected given the tour chosen. The feel is more traveler than pilgrim - and there isn’t time to dally anywhere, but you see a lot and Lorne is a clear scholar and well-organized. I’d do the tour again - in the same way - if time is limited but you want to see as much of the Holy Land as you can. I appreciated Lorne’s humor and willingness to take us to an extra stop even - the room of the Last Supper in Jerusalem. Not only that, he went out of his way to help return my phone to me when I left it on the bus inadvertently. Considerate and professional. Thank you!

Great Tour Guide to Masada and the Dead Sea

Lorne was the best. He is extremely knowledgeable and has an answer to everything. His special sense of humor and very accurate sarcasm made our day. We can’t recommend him enough.

Tour Guide Loren gave our tour group a fantastic day touring Masada and the Dead Sea. His nearly non-stop commentary was terrific and brought the old to the modern day and back again for a truly unique historical perspective of both destinations. He also added great local color to the places we passed on the way out, around and back again. What we enjoyed the most was his willingness to address our personal questions each tour guest received his undivided personal attention. You just cannot ask for more than that.
Highly recommended.

My father, husband and I were in Israel for 6 days and this was BY FAR the best tour. I give the credit to our wonderful tour guide, Lorne. He was incredibly knowledgeable and spoke clearly. He gave us details about Israel all the way from Jerusalem to Caesarea to Haifa to Akko to Rosh Hanikra. Some tour guides stay silent and do not say very much... He picked out the perfect place to eat at a very reasonable cost. He didn’t waste a lot of time having us stop at gas stations and gift shops. The amount of time spent at each site was very appropriate. On the way back, he gave a great summary of the day trip. I wish we could have had Lorne for the other tour days. I would recommend him 1000%. Thank you for making our last day in Israel the best day!

Lorne Newman - Excellent tour guide
The tour was very informative and since it was on Good Friday it was timely and significant. But what gave it a more interesting appeal lies on the tour guide Lorne Newman's insights and logical /educated opinions as well as profound knowledge from being an archeologist and biblibcal historian - a perfect combination for tours like this. He is very accommodating and patient especially to the individual needs of the group - my husband being one of them who is physically challenged as well as myself being senior citizens.

Tour of Old Jerusalem and Bethlehem

Had an excellent tour of the Old City, including Mount Scopus, the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the winding streets of the Old City and along theVia Dolorosa. Stopped for a quick lunch and then on to Bethlehem.

Tour guide Lorne Newman, who is a native English speaker, was excellent, providing clear explanations of what we saw--even providing visual aids to help imagine these places thousands of years ago. Also, in explaining the rules governing different sites, he emphasized the importance of following the rules as a means of keeping the peace. All in all, a beautiful and illuminating day.

Fun Day with Lorne and Being Harim Tours

Review of: Caeserea, Rosh Hanikra and Acre Day Trip from Tel Aviv

We did a small group tour to the north coastal areas of Israel. Our guide, Lorne, was very knowledgeable and did a good job of keeping track of everyone. We enjoyed Caesarea and the Bahai gardens in Haifa but the highlight was Akko/Acre where we visited a spectacular Crusader fortress. We booked directly with Bein Harim and had no problems at all. Pickup at our hotel was on time and the only delays were caused by terrible traffic at the end of the day, which was all just part of the Israel experience. Bring water, a hat, and sunscreen.

A Magical Experience

We had an incredible day, wallking around Jerusalem and Bethlehem following the footsteps of Jesus Christ. This is truly a magical experience made better by our knowledgable guide called Lorne. He kept us informed at every step of the journey. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and of course our driver David. A great experience we will never forget and we’ll worth the money. Surreal day of spiritualism and history

Review of: Day Tour to Jerusalem and Bethlehem from Tel Aviv
Had a great day touring 2 of the most significant cities in Christianity. Lorne, our tour guide, made the whole tour really fun. He made the most of our day tour, taking us by all of the most important sites and filling us in with all of the history lessons to go with them. Would book again with Lorne and Bein Harim!

Must-See Sites with a great guide!

Booked this trip after reading positive reviews on TripAdvisor, knowing that the experience can be entirely different depending upon the guide. We lucked out and had Lorne Newman as our guide for the day. He has a wealth of knowledge and information about Masada, the Dead Sea, and Israel in general. He is also truly passionate about history and archeology, and that coupled with his humor makes you want to listen, even if you're exhausted from spending hours in the sun slathering mud all over yourself. 😉 He was also very accommodating to my mother, who is disabled and a slow walker. He managed to keep the tour moving along while also making sure we kept up. Our only complaint was that the driver did not drop us off in front of the hotel, but rather a block away, which was difficult for my mom. Otherwise, this was an extremely positive experience!

My wife and I had a fantastic time during our Masada and the Dead Sea tour. In particular, our guide, Lorne Newman, did a great job giving us context for the stuff we were seeing. As a history fan, I really appreciate knowing the history and context for what I’m looking at. He was also funny, and we appreciated having a native English speaker.

The tour bus was comfortable and we made an appropriate number of rest stops. The Dead Sea beach was pretty crowded, but I don’t know if there is anything Lorne or Ben Harin can do about that.

Excellent day trip to Masada and the Dead Sea. Definitely worth seeing both sites. I was picked up from my hotel on time and we stayed on schedule all day. Our guide, Lorne Newman was excellent as well, very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. As a native English speaker, he was also easy to understand even when there were other groups around speaking. I would have taken a second tour if I had been staying for more time.

Masada and Dead Sea with Lorne Newman
Lorne was a great guide to take us through Masada and the Dead Sea. He is very knowledgeable and has an easy going nature (even in keeping the group together) and is a native English speaker so his commentary was easy to understand. He will be sure to point out whatever you perspective is, if you it interests you. The driver was safe but did drive like a bat out of hell on the roads, I guess all drivers are like that around here? This tour will stop you at many tourist traps along the way and offer you coupons if you want to shop, no pressure and really the reason for the stops were to give people frequent opportunities to use the bathroom. My other tour that I spent 10 days on had none of this, so it was a little odd to me. It may be how these tour companies work though, to keep the local tourist business thriving. Overall, a GREAT value for the money and Lorne was a great guide with a good sense of humor.

Amazing amazing tour but mainly because of the guide Lorne Newman and the driver (forgot his name...blue eyes)
There is so much history and so many different points of view, regarding everything and anything in Israel that is was a great relief to find a guide with so much historical knowledge and extremely well educated on archeological grounds that we were able to absorb loads of interesting facts and information.
The pick up and return was on time. Amazing experience!!! Must ask for Mr. Newman, excellent excellent guide. He made this tours one that I’ll never forget.

Great Tour. Efficient, Valuable and Interesting, w/ Lorne Newman
Review of: Jerusalem Walking Tour: In the Footsteps of Jesus
Lorne took on us (couple) on a great tour of Jerusalem. The initial organization of the vans to tours was a little chaotic but once we were in the guide’s care, we were in good hands. To be brief, Lorne gave us a historical and dynamic tour that did NOT make us feel like were were on a cruise ship herd. He was straightforward about authenticity, historical relevance and the importance of various locations (if that makes sense? Not all possible tour locations matter equally). What I appreciated most was his archeological background so he had a lot of insight into all of the (sometimes literal) layers of history. As a travel agent, I look for tours that don’t feel like someone of reciting memorized text, but rather understand they history they are guiding and his background provided that. Tours make me skeptical but this one held its value. Friendly and personable. Went above and beyond.

I toured the Underground City of David and City of Jerusalem
My tour guide Lorne Newman was outstanding. He was an expert in the archaeological history of Jerusalem and he let the stones speak for themselves. He gave us detailed information about the historical factual significance for each site we visited. He expertly managed the timing of of our tour so we we were able to see a lot during our tour and experience Jerusalem culture. Lorne took us to great restaurants to eat lunch and he made sure we all made it back safely to our hotels. All in all it was an outstanding tour.

Review of: Private Jerusalem City Walking Tour
Being part of a Dutch trade mission to Israel, the Dutch Embassy organised an evening walking tour through Tel Aviv (approx. 3 hours) by Menno de Vries.
A great tour, we saw and learned a lot of Tel Aviv (and Israel's) history. Menno's knowledge and passion is admirable! Also had a quick stop for a pita with kebab/ falal, not to lose too much time in the tour. Menno adjusted quickly to the (sometimes varying) needs of our large business group (15 pax).

Later that week 5 of us decided last minute (on the day itself) to go to Jerusalem for a half a day a private tour the next morning (our flight departed at 16u the next day). Menno helped us, via text messages, very quickly by organising the tour guide, Lorne. Lorne stayed up late to receive our final confirmation, and showed up early the next day in our hotel lobby.
Lorne's tour was, just as Menno's, in one word amazing!
Since the time pressure of a departing flight, we had exactly 3 hours for the highlights in the old city. So impressive, how Lorne managed to 'deliver' us back at the hotel exactly in time, while we really saw all the highlights I hoped we should see. We had some time at the western wall for ourselves and took some more time to visit the church of the holy sulpulchre, which was not busy at the time we were there. Lorne's humor and knowledge was so much fun to listen!

As a non-religious I did sometimes had some difficulties to process so much information on both tours in a short timeframe, but that's on my own account :-).
More practical, we had some difficulties with the ATM's in Jerusalem. Could only make cash withdrawls from the Leumi bank with our European debet cards.

Great Trip, Great Guide

I did the one day tour of Masada and the Dead Sea. Besides being the one day it actually rained in the dessert, the trip was educational, fun and fast paced. Lorne, our guide was extra professional. He capitalized on his personal experience in archeology while also providing historical context for all the sights we visited. He was able to balance the religious history with the secular while also shedding light on the current day events in the region. Bus transfers were easy and the guides made sure you were taken care of. Will definitely look for another tour upon my return to Israel.

We did the City of David tour and our guide Lorne was amazing.He is incredibly knowledgeable, makes history interesting and was flexible with our families needs. We are a family of one senior, 5 adults and one child. Lorne made the tour interesting and kept everyone engaged the whole time. I really appreciated his flexibility and understanding of our families needs. I would highly recommend him as a tour guide.

Footsteps of Jesus
Lorne Newman was an excellent guide. I am a history teacher in the USA and I must say that Lorne really knows his stuff and knows how to explain it. His knowledge of the sites we visited was so deep and his thorough explanations were brilliant yet simple. Students in my classroom may never be able to come to Jerusalem but it will be coming to them for years thanks to Lorne and his marvelous tour leadership. Thank you!

We had a great time with Lorne Newman (our guide)! His archaeological and historical knowledge was essential for us to understand "Old Jerusalem". Since we asked for an English speaking tour, the fact that he is a native English speaking guide was super!!!!
If we ever come to Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, we surely will ask Lorne as a guide! And we will surely come back!
